punch_out1It’s been a long time coming, but Nintendo, true to form, has released a Wii version of the all-time classic Punch Out!! from back in the NES days. Does this one score a knockout or does it survive a ten-count with the original classic?

  • Twitter Gets Its Own Y2K Bug

Posted by Mike Yawney on May 27th, 2009 No comments

twitpocalypse21Its being dubbed the Twitpocalypse. If you use TwitterBerry, Twhirl, Twitteriffic or TweetDeck, your Twitter world may come crashing down around you come June 12th. That according to a Canadian Mobile solutions company.

Wherecloud claims third party Twitter clients will fail on June 12th. Why? Here’s the companies reasoning behind the theory.  Apparently a unique identifier associated with every tweet is comprised of a signed integer. 2,147,483,647 is the limit of signed integers, so if your favorite client is badly coded then it won’t be able to deal with tweets above that number. Wherecloud has even set up its own countdown to the Twitpocalypse webpage.

So there you have it. The world will end June 12th because no one ever thought Twitter would reach 2,147,483,647 “tweets”.

  • Samsung Shows Off Flexible AMOLED Display

    flexible_amoled

We’ve seen flexible screens in the past, but Samsung Mobile Display claims it has developed the bendiest! The AMOLED (Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode) screen is 6.5 inches wide and has a response time more than 1000 times faster as a LCD Panel.

Imagine the applications this could be used for! Electronic newspaper, epaper, e-passport, military maps, newspaper and many more.

The company says production costs for this type of display have come down, which is good news for consumers. No word on when we’ll see this technology begin to show up in devices. Chances are it’s a ways off yet.

With E3 around the corner, we’ll get all the info next week when The Review Crew hits the show floor to bring you the announcements as soon as they hit.

Why? Why!!!! Every week we seem to stumble upon a weird USB flash drive disguised as something strange. This one may just be the most bizarre yet! USB cat ears.

$42 will net you two white cat ears. One ear will hold 2 gigs worth of files, while the other one is simply a USB drive cleaner.

  • Almost Guilt Free Coffee To Go

Posted by Mike Yawney on May 26th, 2009 No comments

reusable_coffee_lidsSorry tree huggers, but sometimes coffee just tastes better in a cardboard cup! Now you can have the cardboard cup goodness and still look after Mother Nature.

Urban Outfitters is now selling silicone coffee lids to use on disposable coffee cups. The lids come in white and black for the  fashion conscious and are supposed to be tight fitting so they don’t leak.

Now here’s the thing we don’t get. The lids only come in one size (3.5″ in diameter) which means they may not fit all cups. They’re also super expensive. Each lid will cost you $12. Yes you read right…$12. maybe it’s time to invest in a travel mug.

  • Twitter To Bring Us StalkerTV

Posted by Sean Taylor on May 25th, 2009 No comments

twitter-tvTwitter, the service that allows you to inundate the masses with status update bursts, is going to the small screen.

Twitter execs have partnered with Reveille Productions (The Office, The Biggest Loser) and Brillstein Entertainment to develop a show where Regular Joes hunt, capture and kill chase down celebrities via clues on their Twitter feeds for cash and prizes.

We liked this idea better when it was called ‘Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego?’ but might be okay if used properly, and not as a marketing tool for celebrities and their newest films/albums/adoption plans.
