scribblenauts1Imagine a game where you can think of an item, write it down on a pad of paper and it will show up on your screen. Need to kill someone? Draw a gun. Need to climb a wall? Draw a ladder. Well that game has arrived. Scribblenauts lets your imagination run wild. Never before have you had so much control in a game. Sound good to be true? It is. Scribblenauts may be just a little too ambitious.

Sure it sounds sick, but it looks as though this could very well be the wave of the future. The Cocoon Cooker allows you to grow meat and fish from…animal cells.

The Cooker is the result of a design competition from Electrolux. Swedish industrial design student Rickard Hederstierna, 27, won first place with the Cocoon Cooker, saying it could tackle food shortages as the world’s population spirals.

  • Think Twice Before Updating Your PS3 Today

    ps3-update-screen

One of the big ‘urks’ about Sony’s console has been the amount of downloading it does, either when first booting it up, or even when you insert that new game and spend half an hour ‘updating’ and installing it on the drive. But the latest firmware update, version 3.0 / 3.01 may do more harm than good.

It seems that for some users, more than over 700 of them have posted on Sony’s blog post, the new update has bricked their Blu-Ray drive. That means that it’s not just games that won’t work in the console any more… Blu-Ray movies aren’t happening either. Some people have reported that regular DVDs still work while others have reported audio issues and some problems with specific games.

Well Palm has done it. Despite Apple’s stronghold on the market, the struggling company has the second most popular smartphone in the US….at least in customers minds.

Market research firm Interpret conducted a survey of smartphone users asking them to rank how successful different smartphones were in the market. Although they were given a wide range of choices, consumers felt Apple’s iPhone 3Gs came in first, followed by Palm’s Pre.

Sony has unveiled what the final version of its motion controller will look like at the Tokyo Game Show when it hits North America in March 2010. This slide was shown to media during Sony’s press event.

It’s very similar to what we saw at E3, only it’s the first time we’ve actually seen it not in someone’s hands. Now we can see there are a few buttons on the front. The design’s not bad, but that glowing orb…ugh! Not a fan of that orb!

Sony explains the purpose of the sphere and some of the features in their press release:

Explain this one to the chief! A team of undercover cops in Florida have been busted for playing video games on the job. While raiding the home of a convicted Florida drug dealer, the officers noticed a Nintendo Wii. So, they did what any cop would do…they pulled it out and bowled a few frames. Okay, quite a few frames actually. The officers bowled for 9 hours to be exact.

The whole incident was recorded on the home surveillance system. The video is awesome! Click on the link to take a peek at the cops bowling.

  • Movie Pirates Targeted with IR Light

Those cam torrents you’ve been downloading may soon be a thing of the past. The National Institute of Informatics in Japan in co-operation with Sharp, have developed a way to prevent camcorders from recording theatre screens.

The technique involves blasting pulses of IR light through holes in the theater screen. The holes are already there for sound to pass through. The IR light creates blinding flashes and renders the video too blurry to watch. Teams conducting the research says 10 pulses per second is the optimum number, where video gets blurred yet the human eye can’t see them.
