Ask The Crew: What Futuristic Technology Are You Most Looking Forward To?
Posted by Mike Yawney on November 28th, 2009 No comments
When you think about it, technology has advanced quite rapidly over the past few years. No, robots aren’t quite self aware just yet, but when you sit back and think about it, we’re not doing too bad. PVRs are now common place in many homes, OLED TVs have become a reality, and scientists are close to developing an invisibility cloak. Heck, we even have a version of Windows that doesn’t blue screen every other day. But there are some technologies that don’t seem to be developing as quickly. What happened to teleportation? What about time travel?
We want to know what technology you are most looking forward to. In the meantime take a look at what we want to see become a reality sooner than later.

A Handy iPhone App From Rogers for Canadians
Posted by Natalie Sit on November 27th, 2009 No comments
It only took 6 months to catch up to AT&T but Canadian wireless company Rogers has released an iPhone app that tracks your usage and allows users to pay bills online. The app provides information on voice minutes (weekday and weekend); amount of data used; and number of text messages received and sent; The information isn’t much different from Rogers online portal and it doesn’t display quickly. And like Rogers’ website there is a four hour delay in updates, but it’s handy to know how close you are to your data limit.
And, you can also pay your monthly phone bill by credit card.

Posted by Mike Yawney on November 27th, 2009 No comments
First a horse, then a boat, soon a train and maybe even a plane? Link has had all sorts of modes of transportation in the past but his next may take him to the skies. In an interview with Britain’s The Guardian, Zelda director Eiji Aonuma let slip a tiny secret. Link may have the ability to fly in the yet to be announced Wii version of Zelda.
“I have an eight-year-old son myself at home, and quite recently he started playing The Phantom Hourglass for DS, because when the software first hit the market he was too young” he says. “When he started playing with the boat, I told him: ‘In the next Zelda, you are going to be able to ride on the train.’ He answered: ‘OK, Dad, first boat, and then train? Surely next time, Link is going to fly in the sky … ‘”

Atari Revamps Online Store Into Virtual Arcade
Posted by Sean Taylor on November 26th, 2009 1 comment
If you were ever a fan of the old-school titles that populated the Atari 2600 back in the day, then you will love what Atari is doing for you lately.
Besides hawking their latest products such as Ghostbusters on the PSP, Atari is going back to the 80’s with a recent full site relaunch. They’ve introduced channels to bring you up to speed with their current stuff, but for those of us who wax nostalgic about consoles that only had one joystick and one red button, the Atari Arcade is our preferred destination. Play retro titles like Yar’s Revenge, Asteroids, Lunar Lander and Battlezone from your web browser… and it’s all as cheap as free!
