There has been a lot of hub bub lately about how much radiation cell phones give off when in use. Some experts say levels are so high consumers have the right to be notified and are calling for radiation levels to be listed in the product specs. Well the city of San Francisco wants to take it a step further, making it mandatory to list radiation levels right next to the price tag in the store

The San Francisco Department of the Environment is pushing radiation postings to begin as early as next month. Even the city’s Mayor Gavin Newsom is endorsing the plan.

  • First Impressions: Dante's Inferno (Demo)

I’m not going to pretend I even know how game concepts are born, but I have a really good idea how Dante’s Inferno came into being:  someone at EA has played God of War. More importantly, an executive at EA has seen how much God of War made for Sony.

“Yeah, let’s do that, but with a different religion, bloodier, and with more boobies.”

After playing the demo, it’s hard not to think that Inferno isn’t simply a new HD and Christian skin for God of War that exchanges chained blades for a long battle axe. Sure, Dante has a moving tapestry sewn onto his chest, but from a distance he doesn’t even look all that different from Kratos.

  • A Decade of "Meh" Gadgets

Posted by DM Le Bray on December 24th, 2009 View Comments

At The Review Crew, we love gadgets. I believe it’s a job requirement. There’s just something special about a piece of technology that is shiny and new and provides a “solution” (even if you didn’t think you had a problem to begin with). But, the sad reality is that a gadget’s long-term existence is rarely guaranteed. In fact, many flop right out of the gate, and if they get further than that, they run the risk of failure for any number of reasons: high cost, poor marketing or the lack of a market the developers thought existed.

And in the past ten years, we’ve seen many gadgets make the trash heap. Fast Company has helped us start a good list of them by picking their top ten gadgets that just didn’t last. Remember Modo, the LCD hipster city guide from the turn of the century? Yeah, me neither.

How’s your Swedish? I hope it’s passable because The Pirate Bay has gone retro–all the way to 2003. And back then everything was in Swedish.

The Pirate Bay blog explains that back in 2003, they were just a tiny site serving primarily Swedes. Now many users from all over the world use the site to get their movies, music, and TV shows.

So what does this redesign mean? Perhaps this quote from the blog will explain.

  • Mouse Memories – 25 Years of the Mac Mouse

    From 1984 to 2009

    From 1984 to 2009

Ah, the classic Macintosh mouse. Just the sight of it brings me back to my parent’s basement in 1986… playing pirated and homemade games. Back then, the single button made no difference to me–it was what it was. Nowadays the single button takes a lot of flack in a multibutton world, but the simplicity and design brilliance of the single button can’t be denied.

From the 1984 brick to the new magic mouse, we’ve seen 25 years of the cute Macintosh input device. It’s become a symbol of the cult of Apple and the company’s staunch adherence to design AND function.

To help us all reminisce on the Mac mouse, we’ve found a new Flickr photostream of mouses through the last quarter decade. You can see more of my favourites after the break.

Send a naughty text without the risk. Well okay there’s still a bit of risk, but at least your goods won’t be hanging out for everyone to see right? Yes, the safe sexting app has arrived for the iPhone.

Here’s how it works. You snap a picture, then slap on a censor patch on the area you want covered. Don’t like the standard black bar? How about replacing it with red satin. Satin makes everything classy.
