Missile Command Turns 30, Appears In Your Browser
Posted by Natalie Sit on February 27th, 2010 No commentsI’m a little young to have experienced Atari’s Missile Command in its arcade heyday. But Atari has given us whippersnappers the opportunity to play it in our favourite browser. Now there’s no need to beg your mom for endless rounds of quarters to feed the demon machine.
Atari and OMGPOP have updated the game to celebrate its 30th birthday. Does that make anyone feel old?

Keyboard So Clean You Can Eat Off It
Posted by DM Le Bray on February 27th, 2010 1 commentI love my classic raised-key keyboard that I once purchased at a garage sale. Tall keys that make a soothing clackety-clack sound. But it’s also beyond disgusting. That particular keyboard has been used by many pairs of hands all eating, pooping and god-knows-what over the years. Maybe it’s about time I looking into something a bit… cleaner.
Thanks to touchscreen technology, Canadian company Cleankeys Inc has created the completely flat keyboard. With just a wipe of a sanitized cloth–BAZINGA!–gone are the diseases that your dirty little fingers could be spreading (at least on your keyboard).

Hovertank Coming To Mass Effect 2
Posted by DM Le Bray on February 26th, 2010 No commentsHover. Tank. With guns. Excited yet?
Move over, Mako, the Hammerhead is set to be the new playable vehicle in the Mass Effect universe. It will be part of the next ME2 downloadable content called Firewalker slated for release at the end of March.
Few people were sad to see the Mako dropped from the franchise. Described by one reviewer as handling “like a fat man on a unicycle”, the all terrain, weapon-laden vehicle was a clumsy ride and boring as heck as a tool for mining resources. The Hammerhead is likely just for the purpose of kicking ass and taking names. We’ll have to wait and see if it handles better than its predecessor.

Facebook Secures Patent For Newsfeed
Posted by Mike Yawney on February 26th, 2010 No commentsThe social networking world is in for a shakeup. Facebook now owns the patent for the newsfeed. Patent #7,669,123 reveals Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and seven other current and former Facebookers as inventors have been assigned the rights to the patent.
Sites such as MySpace, Flickr, Google Buzz, LinkedIn, Yahoo Mail, and Windows Live all generate some sort of newsfeed. What does this all mean to the other sites. Only time will tell.

NYC Apartment Creeper
Posted by Mike Yawney on February 26th, 2010 No commentsFood goes missing in your apartment night after night. You blame your significant other. They say they aren’t eating the food. What do you do? The tech savvy set up a camera of course to see who’s responsible.
Is it real? Is it staged? Those are certainly legitimate questions. Watch the video and decide for yourself.

A Life Of Crime Ain’t Cheap
Posted by Natalie Sit on February 25th, 2010 No comments
We can all agree Grand Theft Auto IV was a great game. Interesting characters, a detailed world to explore, and a kick-ass soundtrack to accompany our explorations. But you know what? Quality costs money. How much do you ask? Enough to make GTA IV the most expensive video game in history. It cost Rockstar $100 million to make this game. -
Pac-Man Makes Triumphant Return To Arcades
Posted by Mike Yawney on February 25th, 2010 No comments
I know I know, there really aren’t many arcades around any more. But if you do happen to find your self inside one later this year you’ll be able to witness the return of Pac-Man! Namco has announced it will be releasing an all new Pac-Man arcade game called Pac-Man Battle Royale. So how exactly will the game be played? Unfortunately Namco isn’t saying much. The 12 second teaser Namco posted online gives nearly no hints at all, only revealing there are multiple Pac-Mans. More info is expected to be announced at Amusement Expo 2010 in Vegas next month.

Ten Word Wiki: Everything In Ten Words, Facts Are Optional
Posted by DM Le Bray on February 25th, 2010 No comments
Self-described as Wikipedia for the ADD Generation, Ten Word Wiki is one of the newest sites on which to kill time and expand your mind. Of course, if you’re looking for well-sourced material developed collaborating subject matter experts… yeah, this isn’t that.Need to write a paper about Canada? Try this insight from TWW:
Similar to America, except more laid-back and fervently monarchic.
Sure, there is a touch of truth in there, but its real value comes in the sarcastic poetry that is engendered by a 10-word restriction. Here are a few of my favourites:

Chatroulette – The Latest Internet Fad
Posted by Mike Yawney on February 25th, 2010 No comments
If there’s a buzz word online right now it has to be Chatroulette, the creepy yet somewhat addictive website that hooks you up to chat with a complete stranger. Here’s how it works. You go to the Chatroulette website, hit connect and you randomly get hooked up with a stranger. Of course the idea is you both have a webcam so you can see and hear each other.
Part of the excitement about the website is you never know who you will get connected with. A University of Calgary student ended up chatting with Ashton Kutcher this week. In fact a lot of celebrities are hopping online to randomly chat with strangers.
Of course Chatroulette is also creating its own “unique” celebrities. Take Cat Man for example shown on the left. He has appeared in numerous conversations. Then there’s the Bear man, who has the head of a teddy bear. Blog posts are popping up all over with links to funny Chatroulette experiences.
