• Nintendo 3DS Games Announced: Kid Icarus And More

You can’t announce a new hardware without some content, so Nintendo reached into its back pocket for a franchise that many gamers might remember from the original NES days: Kid Icarus. This new game (subtitled Uprising but originally codenamed Project Sora) appears to follow the same basic plot as the original game with your protagonist (still named Pit?) traveling through the kingdom of Angel Land to save the Goddess of Light from–you guessed–the evil Goddess of Darkness.

The game has the potential to fit quite nicely with the 3DS as your character flies through the world and battles in the air and on land with gameplay that is similar to the current incarnations of the 3rd person action Zelda games.

Personally, I’m much more excited about the other games announced to hit the 3DS include:

    • Kingdom Hearts
    • Resident Evil
    • Assassin’s Creed
    • Metal Gear Solid

Nintendo is quite confident that the development community will embrace this new platform. The company concluded their presentation with a series of clips of developers responding to the development opportunities that come with the new 3DS with its 3D perspective and more powerful processing. Of course, sharing all the good comments and omitting the negative comments is a given since it is Nintendo’s show. But those developers wouldn’t have lied, right?

As for which developers have already committed to producing 3DS games, here’s a shot of the slide:

I wonder then if Arone will get to work on some of these games.
