There’s been a lot of talk about what Apple will name it’s soon to be announced tablet device. iSlate? iTablet? Well how about iPad? Apple wants the rights to the name, and it’s going to court to get it.

Currently Fujitsu owns the iPad trademark, but back in September Apple filed court papers asking for time to fight for the international rights to that trademark. Well Apple is stepping up to the plate yet again. According to The Jesus Tablet blog, Apple has now filed for the trademark rights for the US as well.

While the blog has uncovered all the paperwork to back up the claim, the truth is court proceedings take plenty of time. With the launch of the new device next week it almost surely will not be called the iPad. Unless of course there is a massive payout. Who knows, if Apple wants it bad enough…
