That didn’t take long. It only took Apple one weekend to move 1 million iPhone 3Gs units. One million!

The news comes as a bit of a surprise. The lineups at many Apple stores weren’t nearly as long as they were when the iPhone 3G launched last year. Must have been all those pre-orders!

However, the launch hasn’t come without problems. Some U.S. customers complained about long activation times. It should only take an hour or two to activate an iPhone , yet some customers are still waiting for their device to come online. Oh, and there is the issue with some iPhone making random high frequency tones. No word on a fix for this yet.

For the most part the launch went relatively smooth. You can hardly call moving one million handsets in three days a failure. So for those of you who thought Apple’s grip on the smart phone market may be slipping…think again.
