Best Buy to carry vinyl records

Don’t adjust your monitor, you read right. Best Buy is considering carrying vinyl records in its 1020 U.S. stores.

Why? Apparently vinyl is hip! Vinyl sales grew 15 percent year-over-year in 2007 and 89 percent in 2008.  Not bad when you consider CD sales have fallen by about 20% in the past few years.

The electronics giant is looking to delegate approximately 8 square feet to vinyl in the coming months. That’s room for about 200 albums. If the pilot project does well, the company may make room for even more.
