Gearbox is on a big bug hunt

We’ve previously reported on the known hiccups that have popped up during the last week or so since Borderlands launched in North America: some people’s PSN lists wouldn’t connect for multiplayer and there have been reports that some trophies and achievements won’t unlock.

But the new glitch that’s lighting up the forums is much more heinous: play online and you could lose all your stats. Yup. That’s why we bolded it.

In a new twist, going online and playing co-op has some people posting that they have lost their weapon proficiencies (upgrades built over usage), lost all skill points, have had their complete character stats reset to zero or lost every item that they own when people enter or exit their party. Doesn’t sound like much of a party to me.

Is it worth meeting up with a few friends for some bandit killin’ just to have everything you’ve worked for wiped away in a split second? Nuh uh. We had no problemo while writing our review, but that was before everybody was rushing to get online. Gearbox is reissuing its previous statements concerning the bugs and that ‘they are working on a fix’ and that the frequency of the most severe problems is very low. Check this list for all the known problems in the Gearbox technical support section. What a day to be alive!
