Canada gets "Street View" but not through Google

Canpages launches 360-Degree Street View in Canada

Google has been working hard on launching it’s popular “Street View” service north of the border. Well it appears someone has beat Google to it. Canpages.ca has announced it is launching 360-Degree Street Views for the iPhone. Okay it’s not “Street View” but it’s a start.

But here is where it gets really interesting. Google had issues launching the service in Canada due to privacy laws. Google had been quoted back in 2007 that if “Street View” was to launch in Canada, it “may have to blur people’s faces and vehicle license plates to respect tougher Canadian privacy laws.” Apparently Canpages has found a work around. We haven’t had a chance to play around with the newly announced service but it will be interesting to see how it compares to Google’s solid service.
