It’s been rumoured for years that Michael Jackson worked on music for the Sonic The Hedgehog 3 soundtrack. Now 15 years after the game’s release we may finally have confirmation.

In the latest issue of French Michael Jackson fan magazine Black & White, composer Brad Buxen admits Jackson did compose music for the game. So why isn’t his name in the credits? Well Buxen says since the audio on the Genesis was so poor, Jackson himself asked not to be listed in the credits. In fact “he did not want to be associated with a product that devalued his music.”

Jackson did however benefit from his work on the Sonic title. Buxen says the melody used in the game’s closing credits ended up being used as bass for “Stranger in Moscow”.
