Developers Love iPhone Gaming, Wii Not So Much

A new report from the Game Developers magazine shows some interesting trends among game developers.Like us consumers, developers love the cell phones, especially the iPhone. A quarter of respondents said they were developing content for mobile phones. And nearly 75 per cent support iPhones. In contrast, around 38 per cent are developing for the Nintendo DS and PSP–that’s nearly half of the iPhone supporters.
And there’s more bad news for Nintendo.
Interest in the Wii has dropped. Thirty per cent are creating content for Nintendo’s console. Last year that number was around 42 per cent.
And that’s all we can find out right now. A copy of the 100-page report can be purchased but more details will show up in the February edition of Game Developer.
The survey polled over 800 game designers, readers of Game Developer, readers of Gamasutra, and attendees of the Game Developers Conference.
