If you toddler can tweet, why not your dog?

Mattel is introducing Puppy Tweets, a device that will send updates to Twitter about your dogs activity. It’s a plastic tag with sound and motion sensors that attaches to the collar. The tag has pre-determined updates that are triggered when certain conditions are met.

If the tag senses a lot of motion, you may see this tweet: “I finally caught that tail I’ve been chasing and…OOUUUCHH!”

The tweets are automatically uploaded via a USB transceiver on your computer.

Toy industry analyst Jim Silver says it’s interesting that Mattel, traditionally known as a toy maker is going after adults with this product since kids don’t even know what Twitter is.

“It’s a good thing to try especially since no one else has come up with a pet product quite like this.”

The Puppy Tweet is debuting at the annual Toy Fair in New York this February. The device will retail for $29.99 and be available in the fall.
