Final Fantasy XIII was announced…wait…4 years ago. Ever wonder why it’s been taking so long to come to fruition? Turns out the game was originally meant to appear on the Playstation 2.The recent Dutch issue of Official PlayStation Magazine contains an interview with Square Enix’s Yoshinori Kitase. A fan translation of the article reveals the fact they had to change development over to the PS3 delayed the game by a good year and a half.
“That cost us about one and a half years and was constantly a case of trial and error. However, because we worked so hard at the beginning, we got to a cruising speed much faster then anticipated and therefore could start on the translation and international voice recording process at an early stage of the development.” said Kitase.
Kitase also confirmed there would be downloadable content coming for the highly anticipated title. Let’s hope it doesn’t disappoint once it finally makes its way to North America in March.
