• Games To Movies, Books To Movies To Games

Hollywood is busy turning games into the new comic books. After all, the first X-Men was one of the first (if not the first) comic book adaptation that wasn’t a total and complete suckfest and look where that went. Now, movie moguls are looking to games as a good jumping-off place, and while most have been gawdawful trash, one or two have been… alright.

Avi and Ari Arad (of the Marvel properties) just announced a script has been created and director announced for a big screen version of inFamous (with the same writers as the upcoming Uncharted movie project) and also work is progressing on the possibility that we’ll see a Myst movie up there as well.

The optioning  of the Myst novel The Book of Ti’ana paves the way forward for a movie adaptation, but it goes the other way too. Word is that an MMO-style ‘interactive experience’ that lets you relive moments and decorate your house with coffins from the Twilight series is on the way as well.

I would love to see a Prototype adaptation announced at the same time as the inFamous movie, as these things usually roll in twos (see: Armageddon Vs. Deep Impact), but Protype was mostly just a special effects/cool powers game. Wait… this is Hollywood we’re talking about right? Get Bruckheimer on the phone, like, yesterday.
