Grow Your Own Meat

Sure it sounds sick, but it looks as though this could very well be the wave of the future. The Cocoon Cooker allows you to grow meat and fish from…animal cells.

The Cooker is the result of a design competition from Electrolux. Swedish industrial design student Rickard Hederstierna, 27, won first place with the Cocoon Cooker, saying it could tackle food shortages as the world’s population spirals.

Right now this is simply a concept, but Electrolux is serious about making it a reality. The company has given  Hederstierna $7,347 and a six month paid internship at their design center to bring the concept to life.

We’re all for advances in technology, but this one made us throw up in our mouth…just a little bit.
