• iPad Could Be A Magazine Delivery System?

    Mag+ from Bonnier on Vimeo.

All it took was this concept video to convince me there’s a future for the iPad… as long as Apple copies this idea from Finnish media firm Bonnier. A research project with partner BERG, the Mag+ imagines the magazine eReader of the near future while taking a smart shot at the eBook readers of today.

Based on the assumption that buying and reading a well-published magazine is a unique and worthwhile experience that is currently ignored by the digital world, the Mag+ creates a full-colour, photo-heavy, content-focused, and rather linear reading experience. It makes the argument that you just can’t enjoy a magazine if it’s missing layout and photos and if the content is limited by only the infinity of the Internet.

    In their own words:

“The concept uses the power of digital media to create a rich and meaningful experience, while maintaining the relaxed and curated features of printed magazines. It has been designed for a world in which interactivity, abundant information and unlimited options could be perceived as intrusive and overwhelming.”

I’m completely taken with the idea of a digital platform that captures the look and “feel” of a hard copy magazine. It brings back the conspicuous consumption of the high-end magazine.

And this project begs the question: What platform will you be using to read Playboy?

A lot of bloggers not too happy with the new iPad.There was 2 much hype regarding it and a lot blogers got turned off.Thing is, I can actually see some of the cool potential of the device. Third-party soft for playing music, games, papers and magazine and books, tons of neat stuff, but IMHO they just didn’t really sell it right (excluding the books). It feels rather incomplete

    2. Apple’s new iTablet will rapidly gain some steam after the first pumped up period during it’s launch. The lack of keyboard and Mac’s potential to fix some problems will begin to make the iTablet a monster in years to come.
