• Microsoft Kills Dual Screen Tablet

It was hard not to get excited over “Courier”, the dual screen tablet Microsoft was working on. After all two screens are better than one right? Unfortunately it will never see the light of day. Microsoft has pulled the plug on the device that was supposed to be released sometime in 2011.

“At any given time, we’re looking at new ideas, investigating, testing, incubating them. It’s in our DNA to develop new form factors and natural user interfaces to foster productivity and creativity. The Courier project is an example of this type of effort. It will be evaluated for use in future offerings, but we have no plans to build such a device at this time.” says Corporate Vice President Frank Shaw.

One has to wonder why Microsoft nixed the project it was so public and vocal about. Apple has definitely turned the tech world on its head after it released the iPad, the first publicly accepted “tablet”. Was Courier just too clunky compared to Apple’s sweet little device?

Am I the only one saddened by this cancellation? I was really looking forward to an awesome business tablet and Courier was looking to be just that. Booo…
