• No Need To Cry Over Spoiled Milk

I’ve never had to deal with the horror of spoiled milk. My mom taught me never to waste anything so any milk in my fridge is usually finished by the time the expiry date rolls around.

But there are some that aren’t so conscious about their milk consumption. And when it’s close to that expiry date, they don’t know if their moo juice is good to drink. Thank goodness for Cravendale’s new milk jug. Its easy-to-read LCD screen can tell you if that stuff is still good to drink or if you should flush it down the sink.

How does this magical jug work? Basic chemistry.

At the bottom of the jug is a pH sensor. When you first pour in your milk, the sensor does a quick test to establish a baseline. As the milk becomes sour, its pH becomes more acidic and the sensor detects that. When the milk reaches a certain pH level that is too acidic, the LCD will flash sour and signal to you that you’ve wasted money on milk yet again.

According Cravendale, a UK milk producer, some 330,000 tonnes of milk are disposed of because consumers are unsure if the milk they have is sour.
