3d_glasses1You’ve got a 3D TV but there’s nothing to watch, until now. Sony, Imax, and Discovery have announced a 3D channel that will debut in 2011.

The three companies will have an equal stake in the new channel. The channel won’t be all 3D but it will have a mix of entertainment and sports, as well as Discovery’s nature programming.

Sony Corporation chairman Howard Stringer had this to say about the new channel.

“It is clear to us that consumers will always migrate to a better and richer entertainment experience, and together we are determined to be the leader in providing that around the world,” he said.

And if you’re not a fan of Discovery’s programming–although 3D Mythbusters would be awesome–ESPN announced earlier Tuesday they were also creating 3D content.

ESPN says it will commit to broadcasting 85 3D live events, beginning June 2010. They’ve also said they will produce 3D content through to June 2011.

So with 3D games like Avatar and now TV shows, it seems purchasing a 3D TV is a little less foolish.
