On Monday, the President reminded the robot world that he’s paying close attention. During his launch of the “Educate to Innovate” campaign to improve American science, technology, engineering, and math education, Obama alluded to the Presidential responsibility of protecting the nation from evil robots:

Now, the students from Oakton High School are going to be demonstrating the Cougar Cannon designed to scoop up and toss moon rocks. I am eager to see what they do, for two reasons. As presidents (sic), I believe that robotics can inspire young people to pursue science and engineering. And I also want to keep an eye on those robots in case they try anything.

There’s something inspiring about a leader that not only appreciates science and technology, but who also proudly brandishes his inner geek. While this time he was reminding us all of the dangers of cylons, it’s reminiscent of his lightsaber photo op on the White House lawn earlier this year.

Now there’s a leader that understands me.
