Richard Branson Heads Underwater

First he took to the the skies, then the heavens, and now Sir Richard Branson is heading underwater. He has just purchased an underwater plane he’s calling the Necker Nymph. The £415,000 prototype has fighter jet technology and is piloted with a joystick. Currently it can dive up to depths of 130 feet. Okay that’s not very deep, but one day Branson hopes to one day explore depths of 35,000ft – which is far more than the height of Mount Everest.
“The Nymph is an entirely new class of vehicle for us – think of a sleek convertible under water. It is different from our other submersibles because it was specifically designed to dive to scuba depths in tropical waters.” says Marketing manager Karen Hawkes.”It has the flexibility to glide peacefully over glorious reefs or bank adventurously in 360 degree turns.”
The Necker Nymph was purchased for Branson’s private island (Necker Island) which he rents out. He hopes visiters will rent the underwater plane for a week at a time for $25,000. Oh, that’s after you have forked out a minimum of $88,000 (£55,000) for seven nights on the luxury catamaran, the Necker Belle.
Imagine someday being able to explore shipwrecks and underwater caves while sipping on cocktails. We think Branson has the right idea!
