Sega To Release New Console This Summer
Posted by Mike Yawney on February 1st, 2010 1 commentWho said Sega was out of the console business! It looks like he team behind Sonic is getting ready to release a new machine, a cross between the Sega Genesis and the Nintendo Wii. Sega is calling it the “Sega Zone”
Sega Zone is basically a classic Sega console with 2 wireless controllers thrown in for good measure. The console will come with 20 classic Sega titles, like Alex Kid, Golden Axe, Sonic and Knuckles and Ecco the dolphin as well as 30 more games, 16 of which are motion controlled. Unfortunately you will not be able to insert your own favourite classic Sega title into the machine.
Right now Sega has only announced a summer release date for Europe where it will sell for £50. It will be interesting to see how this “new” console sells. Could it be the start of a console comeback for good ol’ Sega?
