skype_iphoneThe rumours are true! Everyone’s favourite  internet telephone service will make it’s debut on Apple’s iPhone this Tuesday.

The Skype iPhone app will allows users to make free calls calls to other Skype users . They will also be able to call traditional landlines at a reduced rate.

The free app has received a bit of a face lift. It no longer looks like the computer version, rather a customized iPhone App. It will also use phone numbers directly from your phone’s address book.

There is a catch however! The calls can ONLY be made via Wi-Fi and not over cellular networks.

Skype will also be released to BlackBerry users in May.

Will you use Skype on your iPhone or Blackberry? Let us know.

Well this sucks – the Skype iPhone app is not available to Canadians. I wonder if it’ll still work if it’s downloaded through the American iTunes store.

The lack of availability of Skype at the iTunes(Canada) site apparently it has to do with Skype and not Apple. Nevertheless, I’m sure there are some eager beavers out there to find an alternate solution. You could always use Fring – not great, but it does work.
