• Sonic Screwdriver Wii-mote For Doctor Who Fans

Fans of the iconic British sci-fi series Doctor Who are very familiar with the good doctor’s trusty multi-tool: the Sonic Screwdriver. It can do practically anything (unless, of course, a pesky plot device like a “deadlock seal” gets in the way). And now, it can control your Wii.

In October, gamers will be able to get their very own Sonic Screwdrivers (specifically, the Eleventh Doctor’s fancy green crystal screwdriver) as a Wii remote or a DS stylus. Not just that, but the launch of these peripherals will precede the launch of two new Doctor Who games: Return to Earth for the Wii and Evacuation Earth for the DS.

BBC has really branched out the Doctor over the past year when it comes to video games. Earlier this year, we told you about the series-linked PC games City of the Daleks and Blood of the Cybermen. What’s been impressive is that these games (including the upcoming Nintendo titles) have been controlled by BBC rather than simply licensing the characters.

Fans of the Matt Smith Doctor should be excited that not only will Smith and Karen Gillan (Amy Pond) be in the games, but they will also feature storylines created by the Doctor Who production team. For those that maintain the Wikis: that means we’re likely talking about canon stories here too.
