Sony has given it’s new motion controller a name. At Sony’s GDC press event, the company told reporters the controller will be called Playstation Move.

The controller is actually similar to Nintendo’s Wiimote as it will consist of two separate parts. There’s the main Playstation Move controller and then a “sub controller”. The pair will work in conjunction with the Playstation Eye to provide “intuitive navigation of in-game characters and objects”.

Both controllers will have built in lithium-ion rechargeable batteries as well as Bluetooth technology so they can communicate with the PS3 without the use of a cable. No price has been announced yet, but they’re expected to retail together for under $100. You can expect to see Playstation Move on store shelves later this year.
