• Space Hotel Still On Sked For 2012

For all of us who bought our $3 million euro tickets for the three-day stay at the Galactic Suite Space Resort, there’s good news. The Barcelona development company behind the project says that they’re full-steam ahead and totally on schedule for the first paying clients to show up in 2012.

We’re a leery at a hotel that calls itself a resort even though there are no servants, awful food (in all likelihood) and mandatory Velcro-jumpsuits. But, if you can forgo some creature comforts, you’ll be treated to 15 sunrises a day and travel clear around the Earth every 80 minutes with 3 of your friends. And they better be your friends… 3 million euros to sit next to the fat guy who hasn’t showered in days? No deal.

The launchpad, Spaceport America, currently being built in New Mexico, will also be used by Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic (at $200,000 a flight) to launch the impending space tourism craze.

Is this something you could see yourself doing? Maybe if there was Tang…
