• Ten Word Wiki: Everything In Ten Words, Facts Are Optional

Self-described as Wikipedia for the ADD Generation, Ten Word Wiki is one of the newest sites on which to kill time and expand your mind. Of course, if you’re looking for well-sourced material developed collaborating subject matter experts… yeah, this isn’t that.

Need to write a paper about Canada? Try this insight from TWW:

Similar to America, except more laid-back and fervently monarchic.

Sure, there is a touch of truth in there, but its real value comes in the sarcastic poetry that is engendered by a 10-word restriction. Here are a few of my favourites:

    • Twin Peaks: Lynchian murder mystery drama, contains Kyle MacLachlan, dancing midget, coffee.
    • Infinite Loops: Sequences of computer instructions that repeat endlessly. See infinite loop.
    • Infinite Loop: Sequences of computer instructions that repeat endlessly. See infinite loops.
    • Baby: Eventual product of sexual congress. Noisy and smelly at times.
    • Truth: Use daily to keep your pants from catching on fire.
    • Fantasy: A wanting or dream, in reality wouldn’t be as good.
    • Geek: Usual spotty, skinny, glasses wearing nerds. Favour computer games…WoW!
    • Discalculia: a specific learning disability involving innate difficulty in learning or comprehending mathematics / counting numbers.

The brainchild of the two-man Morgan Spong Industries, TWW is still in its infancy as it creates an encyclopedic digital tome of ten word entries. They clearly see the project as a humourous time-waster as the entry for the site itself is: “Knowledge but bite sized, often surreal with lots of jokes.”

Which works for me because, really, all I need to know about Nickleback is that they are a “crappy band from Canada, why does anyone listen to them?”

While the facts might be missing, the truth will still shine through.
