Apple faces lawsuit over exploding iPod Touch

Apple is being sued by an Ohio mother who says her son’s iPod Touch lit on fire…in his pants pocket. Apple and 10 unnamed Apple Store employees are named in the suit which was filed in an Ohio court Wednesday.

The boy says he felt a “pop” in his pocket and then felt a burning sensation. When he looked down he says his pants were on fire. He apparently ran to the washroom where a friend helped him take off the burning pants. The flames were hot enough to melt through his nylon/spandex underwear, burning his leg. A doctor is on the record stating the boy received second degree burns. The lawsuit states “He continues to suffer from both physical and mental conditions which will cause him to suffer pain, mental distress, emotional distress, and otherwise for the rest of his life.”

So what does mom want out of this? Only about $150,000 and attorney fees in damages. That’s it.
