• The 3D Centerfold Is On Her Way

Demonstrating that the printed Playboy can still be “relevant”, the June edition will hit stands on Friday complete with old-school 3D glasses and a blurry playmate of the year. Just like you’ve always dreamed, Hope Dworaczyk will pop out at you in the privacy of your home.

Hugh Hefner says he’s been thinking of doing a 3D centerfold since the technology had was a fad in the 50s. Given that 3D is back with a vengeance and newer technologies are titillating us in theatres, the Hef figured now might be a good time to capitalize on his original idea.

“What would people most like to see in 3-D?” he asked. “Probably a naked lady.”

Naturally, the porn industry isn’t far behind (if not leading the parade) when it comes to the adoption of new technology. 3D porn films are likely just around the corner as the 3D TVs start hitting store shelves.

But with dwindling sales, Playboy (the publication) is less interested in the latest technology in 3D as it is about capitalizing on a gimmick to sell more  magazines. This 3D centerfold is not unlike the Marge Simpson spread from last year–a reason to take interest in print and not digital.

The photo of Dworaczyk has her offering the reader a glass wine, thus helping create the 3D effect. Of course, it’s not just the wine glass that appears 3D, but Hef prefers I don’t spoil the surprise for you.
