Think Twice Before Updating Your PS3 Today

One of the big ‘urks’ about Sony’s console has been the amount of downloading it does, either when first booting it up, or even when you insert that new game and spend half an hour ‘updating’ and installing it on the drive. But the latest firmware update, version 3.0 / 3.01 may do more harm than good.

It seems that for some users, more than over 700 of them have posted on Sony’s blog post, the new update has bricked their Blu-Ray drive. That means that it’s not just games that won’t work in the console any more… Blu-Ray movies aren’t happening either. Some people have reported that regular DVDs still work while others have reported audio issues and some problems with specific games.

So… maybe hold off a couple of days or at least over the weekend before Sony even acknowledges there is a problem. You’ve been warned!
